Glory of Gallipoli
One of the songs off my album, written by Bob King Crawford for the 100th anniversary of Gallipoli and endorsed by Legacy.
Steeped in music
Leslie Martin is from a family steeped in musical celebrity, starring in vaudeville and performing on the Tivoli circuit. The eldest of ten children, she has a powerful melodious voice and is all of 5′ tall.
A keen and competent musician, Leslie reads music and plays keyboard, guitar, ukulele and lap steel, holds a Diploma in Music Tuition, and teaches singing, guitar, piano and keyboards from Drouin, Victoria.
Her charter is to take her particular brand of Australian music to the world. She is currently touring with Leslie Martin Sings “The Seekers” and Leslie Martin Sings “Judith Durham”.
Sings her first song, “Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing”.
First public performance. She still holds fond memories of that night.
Accompanies the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College choir on guitar and lead soprano vocals.
Sings at weddings in churches, gardens and reception centres all over Victoria, then performs with country band L J Lousianna and middle-of-the-road band Snapshot.
Returns to the industry after starting a family, under the guidance of Three Dimensional Productions.
Main support to international star Miss Wanda Jackson.
“Glory of Gallipoli” performed at Federation Square (31 August) and Melbourne Town Hall (1 December), following the singles “The Boys from Boyup Brook”, “The Australians” and “People Power”.
Performs at Camp Gallipoli for ANZAC commemorations.
Touring with Leslie Martin Sings “The Seekers” and Leslie Martin Sings “Judith Durham”, and teaching music in Drouin.
Career highlights
Meeting Judith Durham was definitely a career highlight!
Bob King Crawford wrote “Glory of Gallipoli” and thought I would be the perfect person to record the song. This is Bob and I at the Melbourne Town Hall.

Let's take a closer look
Being a musician is more than standing in front of a crowd and singing a song. So much preparation goes into each and every performance.
